Wire Balloon!

Balloons are everywhere at the circus tied to little kids wrists. So for my wire sculpture I did a balloon. For my disability I taped two of my fingers together. Having the disability made me approach the project in an entirely different way, and things that I feel would have normally been easy became quite difficult.

The Love Bug

Name: Mr. Love Bug
Habitat: Often where love is, or where love is needed
Diet: Mr. Love Bug feeds off of Love, Happiness, and Laughter. Mr. Love Bug every once and a while also likes to eat a worm or two.

Art Practicum: Collograph Book Prints

For my art practicum I went to Mountain View Elementary School, and taught my Mom's 4th grade class an Art Lesson. We did Collograph Book Prints. The students created a print that they would want on a book cover. After they finished their prints, they then worked on their back cover story. It was fun to see how the creative the students got.










What things would you change the next time you teach this lesson?

There are several things that I would change before the next time I teach this lesson.
  • Volunteers at each station. The story station, and the painting station.
  • I used acrylic paint, and next time I will use ink. The ink helps bring out the plate design.
  • I would do the writing of the story part a day before I did the painting.
  • I also wish I had more time to let the students create their plates.
What was the student’s response to your activity/teaching? Were they receptive?

The students were very excited and receptive to the project. They got so creative with their prints, and it was way fun to feed off of that excitement.
Has this experience gotten you excited to teach art?

I am excited to teach art in the classroom. It was a lot of fun to incorporate a project into what they were learning. I loved seeing the students excitement.

I think that a very important aspect to a quality lesson plan is making sure that the lesson would work well in your absence. To have a sub quality lesson plan you would need to include things like....
  • Materials Needed
  • Step-By-Step Process
  • The Students Role
  • The Teachers Role
  • Vocabulary Terms
  • Core Guidlines
  • Integrations with Other Subjects (If applicable)

Having Learning Objectives
Make sure that when writing a lesson plan that you have learning objectives for the students to reach. The main goal of any lesson is that the students learn. You want to have a plan, but you also want to add some spontaneity. Let the children get creative with their projects. Feel free to try new things with your lesson plans, and do not forget that improvisation always makes a lesson more fun.
